Before I Go

4 out of 5 stars

27-year-old Daisy has just found out that her breast cancer has returned and has spread throughout her body. Her first thought is of her husband Jack and how he will go on without her. She decides she will find him a woman to take her place after she’s gone. The doctor says she has 6 months maybe longer so she sets out to find a wife. She enlists the help of her best friend Kayleigh and looks at coffee shops, bookstores and finally online. But in her search to find the perfect woman, she loses all the precious time she herself can spend with Jack. She shuts him out and things take an interesting turn.

I loved Daisy. She was feisty, funny, strong-willed and so loving. Her sense of humor had me laughing throughout the book and her tender love for Jack had me in tears. This story isn’t really about dying, it’s about living the life that you are given and not missing out on one moment. Colleen Oakley  has infused this story with the right mix of laughter and tears, joy and sadness. The ending had me smiling in between the tears. Very well-written.
