He’s back! Joe Goldberg, that immensely fascinating sociopath from You, is back to add to the body count and yet make us love him all the same.
He’s followed Amy to Hollywood after she stole books and his heart. It’s a different world in Hollywood than in New York. Everyone wants to be a star. Not everyone is who they seem. He finds work in a bookstore and suddenly becomes involved with a woman named Love. She and her twin brother Forty are from a well-to-do family. Joe gets swept up in their lives. As he falls in love with Love, as in You, there are people who need to be taken care of. People who might mess up the life he has now. People who might know about his past and any loose ends he might have left behind.
As with You, I could not stop reading and in spite of myself, rooted again for Joe, even as he killed again and again. There is just something about him. He is so dark. His reasoning so twisted and yet so spot on that it’s hard to think he is the bad guy. I didn’t feel it was as good as the first but that could be that it was a novelty the first time around and not so much the second, but I still loved it and could not put it down. (I would have read it faster if I had been at home and not in Florida visiting my daughter.) I can only hope that Joe’s saga continues in book three.
I happily received a copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
