By Debbie Macomber
3 out of 5 stars
Leanne and Nichole are starting life over after divorce. Leanne’s husband cheated on her for years and years. She knew and she let it happen. She couldn’t watch her son do it to her beloved daughter-in-law Nichole, so she spoke up and Nichole leaves her son. They now live in apartments across from each other, which works out wonderfully for Nichole since Leanne can help with her young son Owen. The women have come up with a guide of three rules to follow so that they can flourish in their new lives. Rules aren’t always so easy to follow. They do meet two men who come into the picture and make them see things a bit differently. Leanne meets Nickolai, a sweet man from the Ukraine who is in Leanne’s ESL class. Nichole meets Rocco, someone entirely different from her ex-husband.
This book is not a tome on foreign policy. Nor is it a groundbreaking novel but reading Debbie Macomber is like putting on your most comfortable clothes and snuggling under a warm blanket. It was what I needed to read after a lot of very serious books lately. It’s predictable, a little sappy and perfect for a rainy day when you just want a little distraction without having to think to hard.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
