Far From True

By Linwood Barclay

3.5 out of 5 stars

Back in Promise Falls, this is book two of the trilogy, and again, there is a whole lot going on in this little town. This time, the screen at the old drive-in explodes, killing four people. But that’s not the only thing going on, no!  This town has more secrets than Peyton Place. There is an alternative lifestyle among some residents. There is a child custody battle. There is the old mayor trying to get his foot back in the race after a rather shady leave. There are a couple of murders that seemed to be linked. There is the number 23. (You have to read it to learn about that.) Like I said, a whole lot going on.

I think my biggest problem with the book, and I did enjoy it, were there are so many characters that I felt lost at times. There is so much going on, maybe too much. At times, I wouldn’t remember which character was which and had to go back to see exactly who they were. I do realize that it’s about a town and there are not just two people living in it. It didn’t really distract too much from the story at hand and I cannot wait to get to the last book.  I need to know who the killer is! I have my suspicions but I am probably wrong.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
