TheYear We Turned Forty

By Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke

3.5  out of 5 stars

Don’t we all wish we could go back in time and change some things in our past? Hindsight is 20/20 after all. Friends Jessie, Claire and Gabriela get the chance to do just that. At their 50th birthday celebration, a magician gives them the chance to go back to their 40th year. Claire is skeptical but they all dive in and surprise! they go back.

Jessie had an affair which produced a son. She wants to go back to before she told her husband he wasn’t the father and save her marriage. Gabriela wants to go back and tell her husband again that she has decided she wants to have a baby and fight for it. Claire wants to see if she can change the course of her mother’s illness and save some kind of relationship with her pre-teen daughter. Will they be able to get the results that they want and will they all agree to stay back in that time?

I have to say I wondered throughout the whole book just how it would end and I think they found the perfect ending. I loved how it wasn’t all an easy fix in their lives, they had to think of how and who they were effecting. I had read some heavy duty stuff lately and this was just what I needed. It makes you think but it’s fun, magical and a bit sad. It will make you wonder what you would do.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
