Mele Hart is answering a questionnaire from the San Francisco Mommy Club and enters their cookbook contest. She centers her recipes around her core group of mommy friends that she met through the group. While she goes into quite shocking details, she tells us her story and their stories. Mele, newly pregnant, is happy about the news and telling her boyfriend who proceeds to tell her he’s actually already engaged to someone else. A few years later, he asks for their daughter Ellie to be the flower girl at his wedding and as Mele deals with this, her friends tell their stories. The moms and one dad all have something in common, the need to fit in with other parents and the need to be themselves. Mele has met all kinds of moms in her quest for the perfect group and now she has found it. Can they all get her through this wedding? And can they all get each other through this crazy ride of parenthood?
I loved this group of friends! I laughed out loud a few times at their observations. The whole finding a preschool bit was hilarious. From Mele’s undies sliding down her leg, to a naked child allowed to be free, to all the different kinds of techniques, it is really very funny. I think any mother will relate to this book and maybe find themselves in one of the moms. It’s one of those books that you pick up and don’t even realize you are halfway through. I have enjoyed all of her books and can’t wait for the next one.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
