The Vanishing Year: A Novel by [Moretti, Kate]

3 out of 5 star

Zoe Whittaker is living the dream She’s married to a very rich, powerful man who seems to worship her. She lives in a gorgeous apartment and has all the most beautiful clothes. But Zoe is living a lie. She fled California 5 years before after turning evidence on a drug trafficker. Has her past come back to haunt her or even worse, find her? She is almost run down by a car. Her apartment is thrashed. Is it time to come clean to her husband Henry? And if this isn’t all enough, she is looking for her birth mother and has enlisted the help of a reporter.

I have to say that the story did keep me reading and the twist was a bit surprising but once that opened up, I figured out the rest. The character of Zoe was written wonderfully. You could see the wheels turning in her head at all times. Overall, I enjoyed it, even if it was a bit slow. It’s a good character driven story with a decent twist even if the ending was a little flat for me. If you love a good psychological thriller, you will enjoy this one.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
