This is one of the most lovely and simple stories that I have read in a long time.
Addie Moore shows up at Louis Waters’ door and has a request. Both their spouses have been dead a long time and she would like Louis to just come over at night and sleep with her. Nothing else. They can sleep together and talk at night. Louis thinks about it and decides to do it. They are a little awkward at first but it soon blossoms into the most wonderful friendship and more. The town talks, their kids talk but they don’t care. When Addie’s 6-year-old grandson comes to live with her for a time, it is just one of the most special times. I loved these two! If you can find this later in life than you should grab onto it. We all deserve love at any age.
It is so simply written and that’s all you need. It touched my heart and the ending left me in tears. It’s a quick book to read. The chapters are short and to the point. It’s going to be a movie with Robert Redford and Jane Fonda and I can’t wait to watch it.
